Opinions And Ramblings

Poprock sherbet ice cream from Baskin Robbins: Althought delicious, don't eat when you are still taking medication for acid reflux.

Rambo 4: Pretty damned awesome and modeled more after the first film. It wasn't overly political per say, but the violent scenes minus Rambo where very disturbing in their realism. The violent scenes with Rambo- they just kicked ass and you couldn't help but cheer for him.

Conan movie remake: I haven't been this disappointed since they pushed the date back for Run Fat Boy, Run and removed the cheesy gordita crunch from the Taco Bell menu (they've just recently brought it back though, so go order one! The baja sauce is like crack!) A buddy sent me an email showing the imdb info on the new flick. So after Lionsgate fights like crazy to get the rights to the character from the Howard Estate, they give the movie to - none other than- ROB ZOMBIE to direct. I don't have words for the anger right now. I am seriously considering banning Lionsgate movies for at least a year.

The Dish restaurant inside of The Rumrunner: The Boyfriend and I went for Valentines' Day and I really haven't had a meal as tasty other than the salmon dish I had at Vivace restaurant. We ordered the following delicious menu items:

  1. Herb crusted rock lobster tail pan-seared with melted brie, lemon-chive beurre blanc, and fresh tomato concassé
  2. Cold crab and avocado spring roll with yin tsai, carrots, napa cabbage, cucumber, black sesame seeds, & mint with wasabi-pear emulsion and dragon fruit-ginger stars
  3. Fresh black mussels steamed in a saffron broth with diced tomatoes, garlic, and fresh oregano
  4. Sautéed Scarlett Snapper stacked with crispy sweet potato & blue crab over sweet pea & orange zest risotto with pink grapefruit beurre noisette and green beans
I normally don't like mussels, but we couldn't get enough of them. Considering the price ($9.50) it was a knock out deal with more than enough for two to eat. The lobster was hands down perhaps the most delicious bit of food I've ever eaten. The brie was the best cheese I've ever had and it was unbelievably delectable. Our main dish, #4, was quite delicious but I'm happy we split it due to how rich the meal was. Everything was outstanding and the only thing that wasn't really our bag was the egg roll. I can't remember what the name of the wine we had was, but it's light almost apple taste was incredible and complimented all of our food.

Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations: Wicked awesome travel show. The guy is witty and the food makes my mouth water. It is very fun to watch the situations he gets into and the people he meets.
