Down Round Back Kick

Our buddy Aaron came for a visit last week for a weekend filled with Spaced marathons, Street Fighter IV, bowling, delicious food, and some James bond. Unfortunately we didn't have time for the traditional once-a-year-visit cake purchase from La Baguette Bakery (inside Ghini's French Cafe). We replaced that tradition with tasty donuts from Wheel Donuts this year. I ate like 5 or 6, he he. I did squeeze in making pancakes on Sunday morning prior to going to see Adventureland. The movie was decent and had funny parts and good acting, but I thought it was going to be more of a comedy than a coming of age post college pre grad school movie. We met up with some friends of Aaron's from undergrad/law school for dinner most nights. They're lovely peeps and fun dinner and bowling companions. And I should add that Aaron kicked booty at bowling and put us all to shame. (That one's for you buddy). The Street Fighter battles were great and full of flaming kicks, upper cuts, Chun Li's thunder thighs, and Ryu's fireballs. Introducing Aaron to Spaced was perhaps the most fun The Boyfriend and I had watching the series because Aaron picked up on some Star Wars references we hadn't previously. There are A LOT of Star Wars references in that show. And someone finally was able to explain to me why that dumb bitch killed herself at the end of Casino Royale. Aaron was the first person who gave me a suitable explanation for her death: she was trying to protect James Bond from saving her because the bad guys would just continue to use her as a pawn. She couldn't run away with James, therefore killing the old boyfriend. And she couldn't turn James in to the bad guys to save the old boyfriend. So she just took herself out of the equation. I still wouldn't fucking kill myself over that mess- dude I'd find a way to make things work to the best of my ability long before offing myself. Oh, and I finally had a burger at Zinburger, which I thoroughly enjoyed and found wicked tasty. Not as good as Katie burgers, but pretty damned close. :) We got Aaron to try a Sonoran dog at El Guero Canelo, but I'm not sure he found it as bomb as we do. I think that pretty much encompasses our wicked fun weekend. I'm always bummed when Aaron goes because I don't have many buddies I can get to watch crappy movies and there never seems to be enough time to cram in everything we want to do in just a couple of days. Its cool though because The Boyfriend and I will fix it when we convince him to move to where ever we settle down for a while. :)

Ah! The warm glow of my own blog entry! It feels like a big hug with words!

And yes, I have both wicked Street Fighter skills, and the ability to pick obscure Star Wars quotes out of British comedy. And tell you it's extra funny because the guy who said the line in Spaced was actually the guy who said the line in Star Wars!

And I'm single! Ladies, please make a single file line to the right, and I'd like your 500 word essay on why Captain Picard is better than Captain Kirk. Please use 12 point font, and eggshell paper only.
